Adverse Media Screening or Negative News, in simple form, can be described as any kind of negative or unfavorable information found across a wide range of media outlines and online sources (both traditional and non-traditional), which could have an unfavorable effect on a business, government or society as a whole. Instances can include both professional and personal activities that help build a candidates image and reputation.
These checks are most often done in order to identify or uncover elements of a candidates history or behavior that may negatively impact the candidates ability to operate within his / her respective field.
